;)I'm struggling with hook ups on downstream fishing with wee wets (or streamers)I get a low percentage of hookups to strikes on small(18cm) fish.I am using unweighted wee wet flies on knapek 12 lake hooks with a 5 foot 6lb fluorocarbon leader and a clear intermediate line .Despite the short leader I get many strikes .I cast the line out 30 feet at a 20-30 degree angle with a reach mend in the air then let the line swing below me .I get more hookups when actively retrieving so i know its a contact problem but less touchs when retrieving .I know its possible to get 50% hookups as I know one individual who does.I can see why shy fish bite as the flies move enticingly when slowly swinging and the fish are not spooked by beads in the shallows where the little fish are in numbers .I've tried low stretch lines but no improvement.Help!

Mark, I recommend to use hooks featuring thinner wire like Knapek D or Skalka WN1, WN2.

;D I've also thought about putting in a length of power gum so the fish don't immediately feel the weight but get a chance to turn before they hook them selves . Any merit in this do you think?
